Menthi Kura Pappu | Fenugreek Dal


Menthi Kura Pappu is very healthy, tasty and nutritious dal that is prepared from fresh methi leaves and toor dal.
Cooking Time 30 min
Serves 2-3 Persons
Ingredients:
Methi leaves (washed & cut)
1 Bunch
Toor Dal
1 Cup
Onion (finely chopped)
1 Small
Tomoto (Chopped)
1 Small
Green Chillies (chopped)
7 - 8
Tamarind
1 Lemon sized
Red chilli pwd
½ Tsp
Turmeric
⅛ Tsp
Salt
To Taste
Water
As Required
For Seasoning:
Dried Red chillies
2 - 3
Garlic (minced)
1 Clove
Urad dal
½ Tsp
Cumin seeds (Jeera)
½  Tsp
Mustard seeds
½  Tsp
Curry Leaves
Few
Oil
1 Tbsp

Process:
  • Pressure cook all the above ingredients - methi leaves, toor dal, onion, green chillies , tomato, tamarind, red chilli pwd, turmeric, salt and required water. Cook for 3 whistles.
  • Heat oil in a pan to do the seasoning and add red chillies, garlic, urad dal, cumin, mustard seeds and lastly curry leaves for fry for a min.
  • Mix with the pressure cooked pappu and cook for 5 to 10 min on a low flame until it thickens.
  • Remove from the stove and serve hot with chappatis or rice.
