Murukulu | Janthikalu

Murukulu | Janthikalu is a traditional indian snack which is favorite to my whole family prepared with rice flour, gram flour and other spices. We have this crunchy and delicious snack in the evenings with a cup of tea|coffee.

Cooking Time 1 - 1½ hour
Serves 8-10 Persons


Ingredients:
Rice flour
2 Cups
Gram flour (Besan)
½  Cup
Vaamu (ajwain)
1 Tbsp
Sesame Seeds
2 Tbsps
Red chilli pwd
½ Tbsp
Butter/Ghee
2 Tbsps
Salt
To Taste
Oil
For Deep Frying
Process:
  • Mix rice flour, besan, sesame seeds, vaamu, red chilli pwd and salt together. Add the melted ghee and mix.
  • Add lukewarm water slowly to make soft dough. (like chapathi dough)
  • Heat the oil for deep frying. Fill the murukulu presser and press into the oil into round circles.
  • Deep fry until golden brown color.
  • Remove them after frying on to an absorbent paper.
  • When they are cooled, store them in air tight container.
