Jeera/Cumin Rice is a North-Indian dish which is very simple and easy to prepare dish. Whenever i dont have enough time to prepare a dish, i go with this rice. This rice goes well with any vegetarian or non-vegetarian gravy curry.

Ingredients:
Basmati Rice (Washed & Soaked for 30 min) |
2 Cups
|
Onion (Finely Sliced) |
1 Big
|
Green Chillies (Sliced) |
10 - 12
|
Mint Leaves (Chopped) |
1/2 Cup
|
Coriander Leaves (Chopped) |
3/4 Cup
|
Yellow Color |
A Pinch
|
Water |
3 ½ - 4 Cups
|
Salt |
To Taste
|
Seasoning:
Ghee / Oil |
2 - 3 Tbsps
|
Elachi |
3
|
Cloves |
3
|
Cinnamom Sticks |
3
|
Jeera (Cumin Seeds) |
2 Tbsps
|
Cashews |
2 - 3 Tbsps
|
Bay Leaves |
3 - 4
|
Process:
- Heat ghee in a wide pan and do the seasoning one by one (elachi, cloves, cinnamon sticks, cashews, jeera & bay leaves).
- Add chopped onions and green chillies and fry on medium flame until golden brown in color. Then add chopped mint and coriander leaves and fry for 2 min.
- Then add the water, salt and soaked rice to the pan. Mix well and cook until 10 min on medium flame without covering with any lid.
- Lastly add a pinch of yellow color water on top of rice and cook on very low flame by covering with lid for 5 min.
- Serve hot jeera rice with any gravy curry !!!!
