Garam Masala Powder

Garam Masala  Powder is made by blending the spices into coarse powder which is used in north indian and south indian cuisines.  Everytime i prepare this powder before hand and store it for 1-2 months.

Cooking Time 45-60 min
Storage 1-2 months
Garam Masala

Ingredients:

Coriander Seeds
1 Cup
Cinnamon
3 Tbsps(8 - 1" sticks)
Green Cardamoms (Elachi)
3 Tbsps
Cloves
3 Tbsps

Garam Masala Powder
Process:
  • Take a wide pan and roast the above ingredients one by one.
  • Stir until they turn into light brown color.
  • Let them cool and do not peel the cardamoms. The skin itself gives a nice flavor.
  • Grind them together into a fine powder in mixi or a coffee grinder.
  • Store in a air tight container.
Note: For daily use i store the powder in a air tight container that i keep it outside. Then i pack the remaining powder in a zip lock and store it in the fridge so that it can have fresh flavor.
